Works for Me Wednesdays - Pretty Pretty Pies
‘Tis the time of year for baking. I love it….I love having the excuse to make cakes and pies, and anything else I feel like making. I will admit to using pre made pie crusts. I have tried to make my own in the past and it just hasn’t turned out quite right. So while I can’t make my own crust I have found a fun way to make the crust mine. Pies with full top crust require some way for the steam to escape, most cook books will suggest that you cut a small slit in the crust…I find that too boring. My solution….I use a small cookie cutter to make several cut outs before I place the top crust on the pie. I save the cut outs and then replace them after I put the top crust on the pie. the top crust stretches a little and you get space. If you are going to try this I would also reccommend saving the excess crust cut from the outer edges of the pie, if the top crust stretches too much you might need this extra crust to cut out a couple extra little shapes. This is a really easy way to spruce up your pie and get a great wow from everyone!!
